DL Some Enchanted Evening

I ended up with horrible bubbles on yesterday's mani, because I started too late and was in a rush trying to go to bed. So is the life of a polish addict. I couldn't stand it, so I had to redo them again. Today, I decided to try Deborah Lippmann's Some Enchanted Evening. It's a gorgeous champagne pink glitter polish. There are 2 sizes of glitter in it- some super tiny and some average size. I wasn't in the mood for a total all over glitter, I put Ulta's Freshwater Pearl underneath, and just used 3 sparse coats of the DL. Here's how it turned out!

Cotton Candy mani

I wanted to try out some of my new polish, so I did a mani using Essie Splash of Grenadine and topped it with China Glaze Afterglow. Splash of Grenadine is a really pretty and pretty unique pinky-purple color. Don't ask me about the name, since it looks nothing like Grenadine. Lol. Afterglow is a gorgeous warm sheer color with a blue flash. I think this came out looking like Cotton Candy.

Blue flash! See it?
And of course, I can't have naked toes. They are dressed up with Zoya Sookie which is the most perfect summer red I've ever seen. Love it! Zoya scores again!

Ulta Haul

Went to Ulta today... Yay! Here's what I got.

Make-up haul: Urban Decay Naked Palate, Urban Decay eyeliner in Zero (aka black), Covergirl Lash Blast Fusion in black, and Covergirl Outlast Lipstain marker in Flirty Nude.

Nail polish haul: Essie Angora Cardi, Essie Smooth Sailing (so shimmery in the bottle!), Essie Splash of Grenadine, OPI Melon of Troy, China Glaze Below Deck, and China Glaze Afterglow.

Best of all, I had a 20% off your entire purchase, including prestige cosmetics and sales so I ended up with around $30 off all this stuff!

Well, hi there.

Sorry I've been a bit MIA. I've been on vacation this last week, and took a little break from updating the blog. But no fear, I'm back now! Planning a big Ulta trip soon (hopefully tomorrow) so I'll have some new goodies to show ya! :)

More love for BL

Are y'all sick of Butter London's yet? I went to Ulta yesterday and picked up Marrow, which is a dark purple color. I was really looking for the OPI Miss Universe collection, but I didn't see any hint of it. Not even an empty display. Also, in the Ulta flyer, I was aware they were having a special... BL's "No More Waity, Katie" (named in honor of the Royal Wedding) and a small thing of their nail polish remover for $15. Great deal considering the polish alone is $14. I dilly-dallied after getting the flyer, so when I made it to the store a week later and didn't see anything special by the BL display, I figured they were sold out. So I took Marrow to the cash register, paid, was walking the rest of the way down the counter towards the door, and I SAW IT! So I grabbed it, ran back, and had the girl ring that up for me too. ;)

So I did my mani with W8ty K8ty. It's a gorgeous dusty purple-ish blue, with lavender glitter in it. I did 3 coats. You could probably get away with 2 though.

And here is my pedi with Marrow!

In Memory of Caylee

We are all saddened by the death of Caylee Anthony, and shocked and disgusted at the outcome of the case that would have brought her justice. In memory of Caylee, a group of my polishing friends and I are painting our nails purple, Caylee's favorite color, today Thursday, July 7th. If you would like to join in you can do so on our Facebook event page here and/or post it on your own blog if you have one!

For my mani, I used Zoya Zara. I've featured this polish on my blog before, but it is just perfect to use in honor of Caylee. Purple, her favorite color, and gold flash, as she was a golden child who the world only 'knew' for a flash of time. But we will always remember her, and hopefully something good will come from this situation to help other children who are in danger be helped.

Rest in peace sweet little girl.

Happy 4th of July!

It's after midnight here in Texas, so Happy 4th of July to all you American sixers! I started to do a glittery red, white, and blue, thing on my nails and ended up hating it. So, I wiped it all off and replaced it with Butter London Chancer, which is still very festive. I decided to go matchy this time, and do my toes the same.

Remember, there is less than 24 hours left to enter my giveaway! Make sure you don't miss out!

So Much for that Budget...

So, normally, I set an under $10 a bottle spending limit on my polishes, because hey- I'm a nanny not a rocket scientist. Well, my birthday is coming up and I have been splurging a bit more, like on the Butter London I posted the other day, and today's lovely polish... Deborah Lippmann's Glitter In The Air!

So far, I think GITA is well worth my $18. It's goregous. It's a sheer polish, so I prepped with SecheBase, and then did two coats of Essie Main Squeeze to build it up some. (No pictures of that, but I posted it before here.) Some other bloggers have posted that it's difficult and takes a lot of layers to get a good coat of glitter on your nail with GITA, but I only needed 2 coats, and I'm happy with the glitter ratio. Very different from when I tried to do a mani with Nicole's Love Your Life, which was such a disaster I didn't even post it. I kind of think LYL is junk, but you didn't hear that from me. ;)

Today I also recieved another DL- Some Enchanted Evening, and two polishes from a swap- SC Mint Apple and Icing Tiger's Blood. I also have another Butter London on the way! So stay tuned for all of that excitement and of course the announcement of the winners of my giveaway in just a few days!

And now for the DL Glitter In The Air mani that I will be wearing to my friend Sydney's wedding this weekend. :)

Don't let this one Get Away

Today's mani is OPI "The One That Got Away." I didn't actually get around to taking pictures of it right away, so you'll have to excuse the tipwear, since this is now 3 days old. It's a gorgeous pinky purpley sparkle polish. It sparkles a TON in the bottle, but not all of it translates to the nail. It's an awesome color, sparkle or not, so I'm still happy with it.

On my toes is OPI "My Kind of Brown" which is actually not brown at all. I'd call it a brick or burnished red.

It Ain't Called Butter For Nothin'

I have a new love and it goes by the name of Butter London. I'd been wanting to try this brand, after hearing so many great things about it. I think the range of colors that they have is very wide and unique and they have a pretty good selection at my local Ulta, so I splurged and picked up Victoriana. I really liked the color, don't have anything else like it, plus my middle name is Victoria, so it was perfect for my first choice!

I gotta tell ya, there's no question how they chose the name of this brand. It went on so nicely- very smooth, and even in just one coat. My nails feel like glass and look even better! :)

Here's a picture of their super cute bottles. Ever get annoyed by those hard to hold square lids? I do! (I'm looking at you- Ulta Professionals...) The Butter London bottle's square lid is just for looks. To open it, you pull the square part off and there is a nice easy to handle normal brush lid underneath!

Anyway, here's the good stuff... my mani. Perfect for my friend's bachlorette party tomorrow I think.

SC Green Ocean

I got my first flakie polish in the mail today, Sinful Colors Green Ocean, so naturally I had to put it on right away. I put Green Ocean over 3 coats of Essie No Pre-Nup. It looks like a gorgeous frothy pinky sparkly bubble bath of goodness! (I should probably look into trademarking that phrase, shouldn't I? Lol.) Not sure if my pictures captured that, since it mainly pulled the glitter and not really the whole effect of the pink and opalescent green glitter together.

I also did a pedi with Zoya Sweet. If you are looking for a true, bright bubblegum pink, this is it!
Please excuse the flip-flop tanline. It's a souvineer from Disney.

Zoya Stacy with glitter

For today's mani, I wanted to try 2 newish polishes that I haven't gotten to use yet. Zoya Stacy and Ulta Pinata Yada Yada. My pictures didn't capture any of the silver sparkle in PYY unfortunately. I think this will be really pretty in sunlight, but I did this tonight so I'll let you know how it looks tomorrow! I really like this combo. Stacy is a goreous maroon color, the exact color of the ruby in my ring! I thought that PYY would be a bit garish on me, but I love it. I especially love how the glitters in it are different sizes. I don't currently have any others in my collection like that. Anyway, here are the photos. I left my bottles downstairs, so I didn't get pictures of them yet. Maybe I'll add them in tomorrow.

Glitter dots

Today I wanted to try out a new polish I got, Rimmel Sunset Orange. I honestly don't think of this polish as being orange, it's very coral to me, but whatever. It's bright, summery, and fun! I love Rimmel's brush, it's really wide and flat. I can cover my pinkies edge to edge in just one stroke. I plan on picking up more of their polishes in the future!

If I had one critique of the Rimmel polishes, is that they need some glitter or shimmer or something! So, I added some dots of Zoya Rica on top of my Sunset Orange. A little glitter goes a long way! Remember to click to enlarge!

Also, I now have 50 followers! Yay! I'll be posting my giveaway tomorrow, so make sure you stop by and send your friends! :)
